Directors & Founders

Lindsey Burrows

Co-Director
Lindsey has worked at Little Sage for the past eight years as a teacher in different age groups and director. She began in the infant room and moved up with the children as they aged. She has enjoyed watching them grow into such amazing little humans! In 2020, she stepped out of the classroom to work full time as a co-director. Lindsey has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston and worked in small, family-owned preschools for the last 10 years. She taught third grade in the public school system for a year, but really missed the close interactions with families and the home-like environments of preschools. She was lucky enough to find Little Sage and has called it home ever since. She works hard to create a warm, cozy environment for her kids and likes to help them create a strong sense of self. She has carried these goals and expectations over to directing and now helps teachers in other classrooms achieve the same. Lindsey believes that all children are capable of so much-- all they need is a little hard work, room to make mistakes, and someone to cheer them on!
Jaclyn Bennett
Director and Co-Founder
Jaclyn is the loving mother of four wonderful children (two older children in elementary and two young twins) and has always called Charleston her home.  She has always had a passion for children and was raised in a very nurturing family childcare home, which her mother has owned for over 30 years.  Naturally, Jaclyn grew up with plenty of experience with children of all ages and a love for teaching others. This is why she decided to pursue teaching as a career path and care for children of her own.  She is a graduate of Charleston Southern University and holds a master's degree in Early Childhood Education.  Her home on James Island had been a learning hub for many children over the past several years, as Jaclyn has developed a reputation as a prestigious family child care provider in the area.  She really believes in the "home like" environment for children and intends to keep her center very intimate for this reason.  She genuinely believes that it is important for each child to get enough one on one attention to help reach their fullest potential. Her dreams for The Little Sage School are quite prodigious and will carry each child's experience at the school to amazing heights.
June Meyer
Co-Founder
June is a wonderful wife, mother of two, and grandmother.  June, a Charleston native, has spent most of her life caring for young children.  Her daughter Jaclyn is a monument to her abilities in child care.  When she had Jaclyn, her first child, June found it hard to return to her job as a medical transcriptionist due to the lack of a child care provider that could help raise her children just as she would, as a mother.  She began taking care of a few other children in order to support her need to stay at home with her own.  By doing this, June found her calling.  She began writing an age appropriate curriculum centered on each individual child's needs and then registered her home child care center with the state.  Shortly after, June started receiving referrals from Charleston's top preschools because they were so impressed with how advanced her students were.  June has over thirty years of experience in early childhood education and more than twenty years of nutritional training for infants and toddlers.  "After 32 years I feel very rewarded to have made such a contribution in many children’s lives. These precious children have taught me so much about discovery, imagination, curiosity, joy and the never ending journey of learning."

William (Zach) Bennett

Co-Founder
Zach is a caring husband and father who, as one of the oldest in his large family, has grown up all of his life caring for young children.  There's no wonder why he and Jaclyn were meant for each other and this was very apparent when it came to their care for helping develop young children.  He has spent the past years helping Jaclyn raise many children, besides their own, in their home.  Now he has found a higher purpose in helping Jaclyn pursue her dreams of running a child care center.  His abilities are well rounded and he maintains the operations of the facility, coordination of events, preparation of meals, and the direction of the school in general in order to help make sure that Jaclyn has time to keep her focus on what matters in the school, the children.  Zach is a business graduate from Lander University and has over fifteen years of culinary and service industry management experience.  His passion for the business will help make sure that The Little Sage School always has a progressive, fresh, and highly sought after reputation as a childcare provider.
